Silkway West Airlines targets seafood market with Oslo freighter

Silkway West Airlines will inaugurate a freighter service between Avinor Oslo Airport and its Baku hub later this week as it targets the growing Norwegian seafood market.

The weekly service will launch on Friday (September 27) and will utilise a Boeing 747-400 freighter.

The airline’s commercial director for Europe Riad Fataliyev said: “We are exited to offer the Norwegian Seafood industry increased connectivities through our Global Aircargo Hub in Baku. Silkway has been flying Norwegian Seafood for many years through other European gateways, and we are now very pleased to finally add Oslo to our global network.”

Over recent years, the airport has seen a spate of freighter operators launch services looking to capitalise on growing demand for seafood from the country.

However, earlier in 2019 a proposed new seafood centre was cancelled when a deal with handler WFS broke down.
