FIATA elects new president

FIATA has elected its new president and made changes to its extended board.

At it recent General Meeting, which took place in Cape Town, South Africa, Basil LS Pietersen (from South Africa) was elected as the global body’s new president. 

Pietersen, who succeeds Babar Badat (from Pakistan) was formerly chairman and director of the South African Association of Freight Forwarders.

Robert Voltmann (from the US) was re-elected as secretary general and Huxiang Zhao (from China) was elected as treasurer.

Ivan Petrov (from Bulgaria) and Turgut Erkeskin (from Turkey) were re-elected as senior vice presidents, and new member Thomas Sim (from Singapore) was also made a senior vice president.
