Ontario Airport on the up

Southern California’s Ontario International Airport saw its commercial airfreight volumes continue to grow in November, rising 5% year on year to reach 66,000 tons.

While mail volumes were down almost 26%, overall cargo volumes were up 4.2% for the month.

In October, Ontario’s commercial freight volumes had grown by 4.6% year on year to reach a figure of more than 66,000 tons.

Over the 11 months between January and November, cargo traffic increased by 2.5% to almost 700,000 tons, the increase based largely on a 3.6% increase in commercial freight.

Over that same period, mail shipment tonnages fell by 23% compared to the same 11 months of 2018.

Ontario Airport is approximately 35 miles east of downtown Los Angeles in the centre of Southern California. It is a full-service airport with non-stop commercial jet service to 22 major airports in the US, Mexico and Taiwan.
