Turkish Cargo continues to outpace the market

Turkish Cargo achieved the highest growth rate among the top 25 air cargo carriers in February, according to IATA statistics.

The Istanbul hubbed carrier said that it achieved a 16.6% year-on-year increase in cargo traffic — in freight tonne kms (FTK) terms — during the month, while the overall market is estimated to have decreased by 2.6%.

The airline said that the increase had seen it become the world’s fifth busiest cargo cargo — up from eighth in 2019 — while its global FTK market share increased to 4.4%.

Meanwhile, Turkish Cargo also gave an update on its operations in light of the coronavirus outbreak. It said that it transported medicines and medical equipment from different continents — first to Turkey and afterwards from Turkey to Chicago, Taipei, Atlanta, São Paulo, Seoul, New York and Kiev, and to all over the world

In total, it carried 4,000 tons of medicines and 500 tons of medical equipment during April.

The carrier’s 25 aircraft freight fleet are offering services to 90 direct cargo destinations, while also reaching 38 destinations, including London, Moscow, Cairo, Shanghai, Bangkok, Doha, Dubai and Casablanca with 19 wide-body passenger aircraft from the fleet of Turkish Airlines.
