Freight networking group Neutral Air Partner (NAP) has teamed up with UK-based Peter Shepherd Consultancy to launch Perishable Logistics Network (PLN).

Perishable-focused PLN aims to assist small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the perishable and cold chain logistics sectors, to compete both in service and price with the global forwarders. It also offers digital tools and a platform of global logistic connections.

PLN will target independent and privately-owned companies with a “proven record of exemplary services and understanding of perishable logistics temperature control products”.

Peter Shepherd, chief executive of PLN, has 50 years of experience in the global freight marketplace and has previously held a position at Air Menzies International.

Shepherd commented: “We are very delighted to announce the launch of PLN. Its membership will be comprised of local and independent perishable logistics specialists, committed to delivering global fresh and temperature-control supply chain solutions with no boundaries.

“We are offering networking skills, professionalism and expertise which will be unique within the perishable logistics sector.

“We are looking to expand SMEs’ opportunities worldwide under the NAP umbrella and the large range of benefits Neutral Air Partner network has to offer.”

Christos Spyrou (pictured), chief executive of NAP, added: “Perishable and cold chain logistics are essential for the growth and sustainability of the air cargo industry and the logistics sector. Being one of the leading air cargo networks with 250 local airfreight heroes in 150 countries, we were looking at the right timing and opportunity to get involved in the fresh and perishable logistics field, and we are very excited with this new partnership.”
