Emirates SkyCargo has flown nine dedicated cargo flights from airports in the state of Kerala ahead of Onam festival celebrations.

Between August 20 and 30, the cargo carrier operated nine dedicated cargo flights from Kochi and eight from Thiruvananthapuram carrying fruits, vegetables and flowers.

The flights were all carried out using B777-300ER passenger aircraft in an all-cargo set up.

Destinations included the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the UK, France, Germany, and Canada, allowing expats to join the celebrations, which this year were low key compared with normal due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Onam harvest festival was this year celebrated in Kerala between August 22 and September 2.
