Saudia Cargo expands fleet with Boeing 747-400F

Saudia Cargo has increased its cargo capacity across its network with the addition of a Boeing 747-400F freighter, bringing the total number of aircraft in its fleet to seven (four Boeing 777 and three Boeing 747-400F).
The company said the aircraft, which started operations this month, is helping to meet the surge in demand for medical supplies as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Omar Hariri, chief executive of Saudia Cargo, commented: “We have taken practical steps to guarantee the cargo and supply operations smooth continuity to and from the Kingdom ever since flights — excluding cargo and evacuation — were suspended due to Covid-19. Today, flights have been resumed but to a certain degree.
“The new freighter will increase the operation and cargo capacity and help the company meet its targets and provide logistic support to deliver urgent medical cargo to the Kingdom in order to mitigate the impact of Covid-19 as part of its continued efforts.”
In response to the Covid-19 outbreak, Saudia Cargo increased its airfreight in the Middle East, Europe, Africa, Asia and US.
In addition, from March 25, the company began using preighter aircraft to boost its capacity and meet the demand for PPE and medical goods.
