Intradco’s pooch flight in response to belly shortage

Intradco Global has helped to organise a flight for the re-homing of 88 rescue dogs from Costa Rica to Canada in light of lost bellyhold capacity.
The pooches were transported from San Jose International Airport (SJO) to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) in conjunction with Toronto-based rescue organisation Save Our Scruff.
The dogs were transported in an Embraer 120 Brasilia cargo aircraft for the flight, which was eight hours in total plus a short fuel stop in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The charter flight was required as a result of fewer passenger flights due to the Covid outbreak.
Tom Lamb, regional manager North America at Intradco Global, said: “Due to the lack of scheduled passenger flights caused by the covid pandemic, these essential dog rescue missions have turned to charter flights as an alternative solution.
“We worked closely with the airline, rescue charity and authorities to bring this project together and ensure the best outcome was achieved. Thankfully the dogs arrived safely into Toronto, to enjoy their new lives as Canadian citizens.”
Intradco Global cargo account manager, Erica Resendes, travelled onboard with the dogs as an animal flight attendant.
Resendes said: “Working on this project was an amazing heart-warming experience. It is so rewarding to know that Intradco Global has helped in this small way giving these sweet dogs a wonderful new life here in Canada. A truly exceptional movement to be a part of.”
