Freighter operator AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC) has selected ground handler Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) to support its cargo operations at Liege Airport.

As part of the 10-year contract, WFS will process cargo on AirBridgeCargo’s Boeing 747F incoming and outbound flights, which fly from Liege 15 times per week.

The handler will also process cargo for other Volga-Dnepr Group airlines at Liege when required.

WFS has subleased half of ABC’s new cargo terminal at Liege Airport. The 12,500 sq m cargo terminal can process up to 150,000 tonnes of airfreight each year and it has a dedicated pharma zone for temperature-controlled products, enabling WFS’ team to handle pharma and perishable goods.

Barry Nassberg, group chief commercial officer at WFS, commented: “We are extremely proud that AirBridgeCargo Airlines and Volga-Dnepr Group are making this long-term commitment to working with WFS. This 10-year contract in Liege follows our announcement in June of a three-year handling agreement with ABC at our new cargo terminal in Atlanta.

“These types of contracts provide stability for both partners, are great news for our employees, and enable us to support AirBridgeCargo’s long-term growth strategy which requires us to deliver high quality, reliable and innovative cargo handling services for its global customers. We thank ABC for giving us this great opportunity, which supports our own long-term plans in Belgium.”

In addition to Liege, WFS also provides cargo handling services for ABC in Frankfurt, Madrid and Paris as well as in Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Los Angeles and Hong Kong.

Earlier this year, WFS also opened a new cargo terminal at Brussels Airport. This facility is in addition to the handler’s 9,000 sq m handling centre at Brucargo West, which opened two years ago.
