CHAMP launches market analytics service

CHAMP Cargosystems is launching a new market data product to provide greater insight into the air cargo market.

The software firm said it had been working with 26 companies to trial the new data service, named MarketAnalytics.

Data is pulled directly from companies’ systems rather than using monthly accounting updates or files in order to offer daily data updates.

“The ability to look at information by commodity and type of handling, in particular, is proving to be very popular,” CHAMP said. “Insights are delivered as daily files, which carriers and forwarders can embed in their own data warehouses.

“The service also has Power BI dashboards which help managers to drill into data and to get alerts for their areas of interest.”

At the moment, the service offers data on more than 250 routes, each with over 10 tons/year and based on data from at least three participating carriers, none of whom has more than 60% share by weight.

The software firm added that data is subject to a strict privacy policy in line with competition and anti-trust laws, so that organisations cannot see the details of competitors, only market aggregates.
