AAT sets up lithium battery inspection counter

Hong Kong’s Asia Airfreight Terminal (AAT) has introduced a dedicated inspection counter for dangerous goods and lithium battery shipments.
The cargo terminal operator at Hong Kong International Airport said: “With the increasing global concern and heightened aviation security in the industry, this dedicated counter service will further enhance the customer services level and facilitate the checking of dangerous goods & lithium batteries.”
The dedicated inspection counter, on the 2nd floor of AAT Terminal 2, means that both physical and document checks are performed at a single location.
In tandem with the inspection counter, an advance booking service has been launched for customers and cargo agents. Booking confirmation by AAT will be given within two hours and all the bookings will be prioritised for handling.
Khaw Hock Eng, general manager of AAT, said: "This dedicated inspection counter for dangerous goods and Lithium batteries, together with an advance booking service, are important services in response to the increasing global security concern and air logistics needs."
