Virgin adds Detroit

Virgin Atlantic Cargo will launch a service between Detroit and Heathrow next month as it seeks to capitalise on economic growth on both sides of the Atlantic.
The service will use Virgin Atlantic’s daily Airbus A330 passenger flight and will offer over 16 tonnes of belly capacity in both directions.
The airline expects customers in the UK, Europe, India and South Africa that already use its daily Chicago services to welcome a second destination into the US midwest cargo market.
The new destination is the airline’s eleventh in North America and the second addition to its US portfolio in the last eight months.
Virgin Atlantic senior vice president cargo John Lloyd said: “The positive economic outlook for both the US and the UK means we are adding capacity at a time when customers of both sides of the Atlantic are gaining in confidence and looking for new trade opportunities and we’re ready to support them.”
