China Southern extends Paris contract

Sodexi has renewed and extended its contract with China Southern Cargo, following the opening of its new Express Hub at Paris CDG. The French handler’s managing director, Jérôme Balbi, said: “We have handled transit mail bags for the airline for some time and now through the new Express hub, in addition to our existing destinations of Madrid, Warsaw, Buenos Aires and Rio, we are adding a number of new destinations – Milan, Riyadh, Copenhagen, Prague, Athens, Mexico city, Budapest, Lisbon, Johannesburg, Vienna, Lima and Kiev.”
Mailbags arrive from Guangzhou on a China Southern flight for immediate transfer to the Express Hub where they are sorted for the appropriate Air France flight. With much shorter distance to the aircraft position, loading can be achieved within a few hours. The new hub’s sorter can handle up to 6,000 packages weighing up to 32kg per hour, which is on a par with the integrators’ facilities, Balbi pointed out.
