Hactl passes GDP audit

Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) has passed its World Health Organisation (WHO) Good Distribution Practices (GDP) annual surveillance audit.
The audit is required in order to maintain GDP accreditation. Hong Kong’s largest cargo handler achieved GDP accreditation – covering the provision of handling, logistics and storage services for pharmaceuticals – in 2014.
Conducted by independent auditor SGS, the audit included full surveillance of Hactl’s staff competence, premises, equipment, processes, quality control system and hygiene standards.
The audit noted that, in order to ensure the continued observance and further strengthening of all GDP-governed operations, Hactl had created the new post of Supervisor – Quality Assurance within the GDP management team.
Hactl chief executive Mark Whitehead said: “Pharmaceuticals is an increasingly important part of the total airfreight market. I am very pleased with the direction of the GDP initiative, and its positive impact on airfreight’s ability to serve this sector.
“Hactl’s airline and forwarder customers can meanwhile have renewed confidence that we are fully committed to providing the high service quality they need to attract and retain pharmaceuticals business.”
