The heat is on: Ruslan transports steam superheater to Saudi Arabia

A Ruslan International AN124-100 freighter has transported a 60 tonne steam superheater from Linz in Austria to Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
The flight, arranged in partnership with Swiss forwarder Panalpina, involved a 450 km journey by road to Linz Airport.
The road journey required several special permits, due to its width of 620 cm, and was further complicated by having to take place at night. Barriers, fences and a gate had to be removed so that it could enter the airfield.
Claire Simmonds, marketing and business intelligence at Ruslan International, said: “This lift had a number of complexities, but through close collaboration with Panalpina, we were able to meet the challenge comfortably.”
Robert Boetzer, head of charter & emergency services at Panalpina, said: “Meticulous planning and excellent communication were the keys to success.”
Ruslan International was formed in July 2006, through a joint venture between Antonov Airlines and Volga-Dnepr Airlines.
