Swissport announces Mexican partnership

Swissport International and AGN Aviation have announced a new partnership covering the Mexican market that will see the two firms jointly provide ground handling services.
The new merged company will provide a complete portfolio of ground handling services (passenger and ramp handling) and will operate at 28 stations, the biggest of which are Mexico (MEX), Cancun (CUN), Monterrey (MTY), Chihuahua (CUU) and Guadalajara (GDL).
The agreement sees Swissport expand its network in Mexico to 28 stations.
“Both Swissport and AGN see the value of combining the particular strengths of the two companies – with a large station network on the side of AGN and a global customer base on the side of Swissport, the integrated company will be perfectly positioned to serve its customers,” the groundhandler said/
“In order to guarantee a smooth integration of operations and business of both companies, the current owners of AGN will be taking up key positions.”
Swissport executive vice president Europe South, UK, Ireland, Middle East and Latin America Juan-José Andrés Alvez said: “The partnership will strengthen Swissport´s position in Mexico, bring across strong management capabilities and pave the way for further expansion within the region – it enables us to offer our customers a country-wide and multi-station solution with the highest standards of quality and reliability.”
Before the partnership with AGN, Swissport was already present with ground handling services in Cancun offered cargo handling services at three stations in Cancun, Guadalajara and Mexico.
In July, China’s HNA Group announced a deal to takeover Swissport with the industry seemingly entering a consolidation phase.
