Etihad freighter captain dies in mid-air

The captain of an Etihad Airways Boeing 777-200 freighter en route from Abu Dhabi to Amsterdam Schiphol has died at the controls, shortly after take-off. He became unwell shortly after flight EY927 lifted off and then became incapacitated, prompting the first officer to declare Mayday and divert the aircraft to Kuwait, where it landed safely.
Medical staff at Abu Dhabi later pronounced the captain dead after attempting to resuscitate him.
