Air France-KLM and Jet Airways upgrade cargo pact

India’s Jet Airways Cargo has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Air France-KLM Cargo to shape and further strengthen their existing cooperation.
The two carriers said it would complement their agreement for the passenger business.
Combined cargo has more than tripled since the beginning of the passenger codeshare agreements.
The cargo MoU will deepen the cooperation between the partners and the two airlines will endeavour to link and leverage their respective route to expanded high-value cargo services, as well as products tailored for specific industries such as pharmaceuticals, express and e-commerce.
They will also improve warehouse efficiency, exchange capacity and make block space arrangements.
The MoU will include new destinations via the two partners’ respective hubs and gateways, at Mumbai and Delhi, Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam Schiphol. The partners also plan to expand volume from emerging Indian markets such as Bengaluru and Chennai where direct intercontinental capacity has recently been added.
Jet Airways Cargo senior vice-president, Pradeep Kumar, said: “We share the ambition to jointly explore and exploit the vast opportunities in the air cargo market via mutual synergies in our routes and networks, as well as warehousing. We also intend to work closely to co-create new and industry-leading products and services for our clients.”
For Air France-KLM Cargo, executive vice-president Marcel de Nooijer added: “This agreement stipulates again the importance of strong partnerships in the airfreight market. With the dynamic developments in India, we are excited to offer new opportunities to our customers and strengthen our global network towards the Indian freight market. Together with the Jet Airways, we will work on new possibilities.”
