Jota to launch freighter operations with four BAe 146-300 QTs

UK-based Jota Aviation, with its hub at London Southend Airport, is to begin BAe 146-300 QT freighter operations this month (October).
The four ex-ASL Spain aircraft are set to enter the long-term ACMI and ad-hoc charter market.
The BAe 146-300 QTs complement Jota’s existing passenger fleet of BAe 146/Avro RJ aircraft.
Jota Aviation chief executive Andy Green said: “We look forward to entering this exciting new phase for Jota Aviation. We have spent the past few months ensuring that we have the experienced crew and infrastructure to support Jota Cargo and now look forward to putting these plans into action”
The aircraft, with a loose cargo payload capacity of 12 tonnes, or 10.5 tonnes palletised, can load up to 7.5 ULDs.
Said a spokesman for Jota: "These aircraft fit perfectly into the niche between the ATR72 and B737, making the fleet ideal for volume, weight, speed and efficiency. Ability to launch quickly without the lengthy delays in applying for permits in most cases.
The airlines said that The aircraft’s large, offset cargo door, combined with its wide cargo floor, makes it "ideal for outsized one-piece shipments".
Jota Cargo is available for ACMI wet-lease, ad-hoc charters and contract route charters.
