New forwarder network launched

New Generation Logistics Network (NGLN) has been launched to help small to medium-sized forwarder members compete with the large global logistics companies.
“The world of supply chains has undoubtedly become increasingly complex, compounded by the rise of e-commerce, new technologies, regulatory and customer demands, along with unparalleled risk,” said Mark Boggis, chief operating officer.
“The largest freight forwarders are investing significant cash in developing and further enhancing their own networks in order to offer one stop shopping for both 3PL and freight forwarding demands. The desire being to make it extremely difficult for small/medium players to compete.”
He said NGLN is ultimately about building a network of high calibre, small and medium freight forwarders, who will be able to collaborate and offer customers highly effective solutions, whether that be local, regional or global.
“Our network will be more than just a talk shop, in the end it’s about providing more choice to customers which can only be good for the industry.”
Boggis has almost 40 years of logistics experience, starting his career with FedEx and working for various freight companies in the UK before joining the PSL Group in 2001. Dennis Mcgibbon is chief executive and Simon Boggis, former global chief procurement officer at CEVA Logistics, has been engaged as a strategic associate.
