Cargo volume decline at Frankfurt in November

Monthly freight volume was the only sector to show a decline at Frankfurt airport in November 2018, a response to "the growing uncertainty in global trade" said the hub’s owner and manager, Fraport.
Cargo throughput (airfreight + airmail) fell by 2.1% to around 196,537 tonnes last month compared with the same period in 2017
Passenger numbers at Frankfurt were on the rise in November, with the German hub welcoming around 5.2m people, a growth of 4.7% year-on-year.
This development was driven by European passenger traffic (up 6.1%) as well as intercontinental traffic (up 4.3%). The cumulative growth in passenger numbers for the first eleven months of the current year was 7.8%.
In a similar vein, aircraft movements in November increased by 5.3% to 41,192 takeoffs and landings. Accumulated maximum takeoff weights (MTOWs) rose by 3.3% to around 2.5m tonnes.
