AF-KLM Martinair Cargo fly 100 horses to Amsterdam

MERGED European airline Air France-KLM-Martinair Cargo has carried almost 100 horses from the USA to Amsterdam Schiphol.
In what is described as ‘a large-scale effort’, the horses were carried on the three different airlines of the group.
From Miami, two Martinair freighters accommodated 29 in 11 stalls, and a specially-arranged Air France B747 freighter carried 55 in 26 stalls. KLM transported 14 in five stalls.
The animals were returning from the Wellington, Florida Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF), the largest and longest-running event in equestrian sports. Riders representing 30 countries took part.
Air France-KLM-Martinair Cargo has a long history of transporting horses as part of its Cargo Variation Live department, which provides optimal welfare, comfort and hygiene both in the air and on the ground, says a spokesperson.
