Air Ghana takes delivery of B737-400PTF

AIRCRAFT conversions specialist PEMCO World Air Services has delivered a B737-400PTF for use in West Africa by Air Ghana.
The former passenger aircraft will fly scheduled freighter services for express package giant DHL under a partnership between US-based ACMI operator Swiftair and Air Ghana.
The 11-pallet freighter was converted at PEMCO’s headquarters in Tampa, Florida.
It is the first of five converted freighters planned for delivery over the next three years for the new cargo operation.
Air Ghana now has an air operator’s certificate issued by Ghana Civil Aviation, making the carrier a fully operational cargo airline.
PEMCO’s latest conversion will provide feeder service to West and Central African countries, increasing significantly the cargo throughput at Ghana’s Kotoka International Airport, which is located about 10 km from the capital Accra.
On the African carrier’s website, Air Ghana chief executive Marwan Traboulsi said: “This new development represents a very important part and a major step forward in making Accra the number one hub in West Africa.
"The aircraft will be used to provide a feeder service to West, Central and Southern African countries."
