ANA Cargo starts Singapore freighter service

ALL NIPPON AIRWAYS (ANA) CARGO has celebrated its inaugural flight from Japan to Singapore’s Changi Airport.
The Japanese carrier will operate six weekly Okinawa-Singapore-Tokyo Narita services, using a B767-300F.
ANA hopes to capitalise on the strong demand for high-quality Japanese food products, increase transshipments to South Asia and Southeast Asia, as well as utilise the airport’s dedicated temperature-controlled facilities for pharmaceuticals shipments, says a company statement.
Changi has benefited greatly from the growth generated by ANA’s augmented operations, which includes increasing flight frequencies and up-gauging aircraft. The airline has also relocated its Asia cargo office from Hong Kong to Singapore.
Last year, the total amount of cargo carried by ANA to Singapore climbed 53 per cent, adds the statement.
James Fong, assistant vice-president for cargo and logistics development for Changi Airport Group (CAG), comments: “We are delighted to welcome ANA Cargo’s new freighter service to Singapore.
“This is an example of CAG’s commitment to partner with airlines to explore new opportunities and stimulate growth in niche cargo segments, as well as the traffic to emerging economies in the region.”
Changi handled a total of 446,900 tonnes in the first quarter of this year.
