Cargo handler BCUBE Air Cargo has adopted the IATA Dangerous Goods (DG) AutoCheck solution to improve procedures around the handling of DG.
The digital tool allows companies to check compliance of the shipper’s DG declaration against all relevant rules and regulations contained in the IATA regulations.
It will also enable electronic consignment data to be received directly, supporting the digitisation of cargo supply chain.
The company said: “The main aim of this digital tool is to improve the DG handling procedures in order to avoid efficiency errors, increased costs and knowledge gaps, reduce the number of global regulations to implement and comply with and finally to reduce the time needed to properly check dangerous goods documentation and packages.
“The proper training of personnel and adequate facilities are also considered key elements to ensure the safe and timely transportation service.”
Mauro Grisafi, chief executive, BCUBE Air Cargo, added: “For many years BCUBE has been strongly working in favor of improving the safety standards within air cargo sector in Italy.
“That’s why we have immediately agreed with IATA the DG AutoCheck Solution initiative. We are convinced that it is essential for promoting the safety of dangerous good operations. We strongly believe that by adopting the DG AutoCheck solution, we can offer our clients more efficient and competitive services and impact positively the whole cargo supply chain industry.”
“Putting safety first has always been this industry’s priority,’’ said Nick Careen, IATA’s senior vice president, airport passenger cargo and security. “By implementing DG AutoCheck in their DGD process, BCUBE has demonstrated their commitment to efficiency, compliance and security as well. We encourage others in the cargo supply chain to follow their leadership.’’
