Bluebird Nordic targets Slovakian AOC

Bluebird Nordic is planning to obtain an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) in Slovakia as it looks to expand operations in Europe.
The Icelandic ACMI leasing and cargo airline said that the additional AOC was a “strategic move” that would allow it to enter “new and prominent markets”.
Bluebird Nordic chief executive Audrone Keinyte said: “Slovakia is ideally positioned in the middle of Europe, which offers great opportunities for a wider geographical coverage.
“The new AOC in the country will aid in expanding our airline routes and destinations, and strengthen the airline’s name in the region.”
Currently, Bluebird Nordic operates a fleet of one B737-300, six B737-400 and five B737-800 full freighter aircraft.
But it has plans to grow the fleet to 25 aircraft in the next couple of years with a focus on the Boeing Next Generation (NG) segment.
Most recently, lessor AviaAM Leasing announced it had purchased two more Boeing B737-800 aircraft for Passenger-to-Freighter (P2F) conversion on behalf of Bluebird.
Bluebird Nordic and AviaAM Leasing are a part of Avia Solutions Group and are working together to enable Bluebird to achieve its fleet expansion goals.
