The partnership comes as Air Incheon completes integration of Asiana's $322.5m cargo business and ANA finalises its delayed acquisition of Nippon Cargo Airlines.

All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Air Incheon have begun codesharing on freighter services operated between Japan and South Korea with the aim of enhancing connectivity and meeting growing demand for cargo transportation in the region.

Under the codeshare agreement, effective 15 September, ANA and Air Incheon will sell cargo space on flights operated by both carriers, said ANA Group in a press release.

Korean airline Air Incheon completed the integration of Asiana Airlines' cargo business on 1 August, a move which positioned the company as South Korea's second-largest cargo airline operator. Air Incheon also announced last month that it would rebrand as AirZeta, subject to government approval.

Asiana received final shareholder approval to sell its cargo business to Air Incheon in February. The $322.5m sale of Asiana's cargo business to Air Incheon was part of European Union conditions for Korean Air to acquire Asiana. Korean Air acquired Asiana for $1.3bn in December last year.

Elsewhere, on 1 August, ANA Holdings finally completed the takeover of freighter operator Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA) from NYK after the time taken to gain regulatory approval delayed the deal by more than 20 months.

"ANA and Air Incheon remain committed to delivering high-quality, competitive services that meet customer transport needs through business growth and network partnerships," said the ANA Group.

"By strengthening their cargo operations, the two companies are dedicated to creating greater value for the growing cargo demand between Japan and South Korea."
