Cash-strapped airlines call for IT investment

Speakers at an air cargo forum are expected to call for the entire air cargo industry to make investments in new IT and to switch over to new generation systems.
Cargo airline representatives are due to assemble at the Four Seasons Hotel in Singapore on 21 October for software specialists IBS’ Cargo Forum, a three day brainstorming session to discuss key issues shaping the industry.
The event takes place against the background a disappointing first half in 2015 and the need to reign in costs.
Participants will discuss some of the critical challenges facing the industry and focus on how technology advances could help optimise the cost of operations and improve yields. Other topics of discussion include ‘Disruptive Technology Trends’, ‘Internet of Things – A Cargo Warehouse Concept’, and ‘Data Analytics Tools – Applications in Cargo Revenue Management’.
