Conversion company Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW) has redelivered its 14th Airbus A330-300 passenger to freighter (P2F) to DHL.

The German firm said in a LinkedIn post yesterday that the A330-300P2F took off from Dresden earlier this week.

“The recently finalized A330-300P2F aircraft is the no. 14 freighter for our customer DHL and joins their fleet as youngest conversion freighter,” said EFW.

The delivery for DHL, understood by Air Cargo News (ACN) to be for DHL Express, is the 38th freighter aircraft of the new generation A330P2F programme, including 25 A330-300P2Fs.

“By the end of this year well above 20 widebody freighter of the A330P2F programme will have joined the global freighter fleet,” explained EFW.

The company added that it has now matched in conversions the total figure of Airbus A330 factory freighters so far manufactured.

EFWs A330P2F programme comes with two variants – the A330-200P2F and A330-300P2F.

The A330-200P2F can carry a gross payload of up to 60 tons of weight to over 7.700 km, while the larger A330-300P2F can carry a gross payload of up to 62 tons and a containerised volume of up to ~18.581ft3 (~526m3).

DHL Express was the launch customer for EFW’s A330-300P2F programme. The German logistics company is operating its A330-300P2F fleet in Europe and Asia as well as on transatlantic flights from Leipzig, Germany to the US. ACN understands that DHL Express has 18 A330-300P2F on order in total.

Aside from DHL, a number of other companies have taken delivery of A330P2F aircraft from EFW in recent months.

Australian airline Qantas took delivery of its second A330-200P2F aircraft in December 2023.

Air China Cargo also received the first of eight A330P2Fs at the end of 2023.

And in October last year, Amazon Air undertook the “first in-service flight” with the first of 10 EFW-converted A330-300P2Fs that it has leased for operation by Hawaiian Airlines.
