Air Canada adds Frankfurt to expanding freighter operation

Air Canada Cargo is continuing to expand its recently re-launched freighter operations with the introduction of Frankfurt to its network of all-freighter routes, with service between Frankfurt and Toronto commencing November 19.

The weekly 767-300 freighter flights, operated by Cargojet through a wet lease agreement with Air Canada, are in addition to the 28 weekly widebody flights between Canada and Frankfurt currently operated by Air Canada.

“The growth of our freighter service allows us to increase our global reach and leverage our substantial, growing international network” said Lise-Marie Turpin, vice president, Air Canada Cargo. “It also allows us to offer main deck service to our customers with year-round capacity on key lanes.”

Air Canada Cargo launched its dedicated freighter service in June, deploying B767-300 freighter aircraft on routes serving key markets before adding further flights in October. Flights currently operate between Toronto and Atlanta, Dallas, Bogota, Lima and Mexico City.

The carrier said Toronto provides countless options for export and import shipments to and from cities across Canada, Europe, Asia, the United States, South America, Australia, India, Middle East and Africa.

In addition to general cargo, Air Canada Cargo’s freighter service accommodates specialized shipments including AC Cool Chain for perishables and pharmaceuticals, AC Secure for high-value items and AC Animals, as well as main deck shipments.
