Challenge Group facilitates fashion

Challenge Group has been busy supporting some of the world’s top fashion designers during February – the month when four of the world’s most prominent fashion weeks take place.

“Milan, New York, and China Fashion weeks are routine staples in our annual Challenge Air Cargo operations,” said Or Zak, commercial vice president of Challenge Group.

Normally, shipments from Italy destined for the New York fashion week, for example, are planned seasonally, with final preparation taking place in the month running up to the event, the company said.

“During that time, each week around five to 10 main deck positions on the New York flights out of Liège are blocked for containers loaded with all kinds of often fragile fashion accessories, shoes, and hanging garments. China-bound shipments are more than double the size, with 10 to 15 weekly main deck positions dedicated to designer wear,” Challenge Group explained.

Last-minute fashion shipments requiring urgent transport are rare – but they do happen. For instance, Challenge Air Cargo recently flew a last-minute collection from Milan to New York within 48 hours. It organised a dedicated truck to move the designer pieces to Belgium’s Liège airport, where Challenge Handling loaded them onto a Challenge Airlines BE Boeing 747 Freighter flight bound for New York.
