MAB Kargo flies third relief mission for Rohingya refugees

MAB Kargo has flown its third relief mission to Bangladesh for Rohingya refugees, with almost 50 tonnes of goods to set up the Malaysian Field Hospital.
The consignment to Chittagong, on an Airbus A330-200 freighter from Malaysia Airlines’ cargo arm, included a wide range of medical equipment. Also in the packing list were medical supplies for three months.
Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi, chief executive of MAB Kargo, said: “Knowing that our aircraft is flying life-saving equipment and medication for those truly in need is a humbling feeling.
“Part of our corporate social responsibility programme is to give back to the community in need and this flight is exactly about that. We have been receiving great support from the nation and this, in return, is our national service – sending help from Malaysia.”
Chief technical planner for the Malaysia Field Hospital deployment, Colonel (Dr) Mohd Arshil bin Moideen, said: “This mission is already a history in the making. It is the first ever field hospital deployment from Malaysia for a humanitarian mission abroad with a true one nation approach initiated by the Prime Minister’s Office.
“The whole process of planning, training and coordinating is done by the Malaysian Armed Forces, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the help of various local NGOs.
“It is great that the corporate sector is also involved. MAB Kargo’s CSR contribution via the logistic support is very much appreciated”.
Accompanying the cargo were two officers from the Malaysian Ministry of Health (MOH).
