Nippon Cargo Airlines suspends European flights

Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA) today announced that it would suspend European flights due to depart over the coming days as a result of airspace restrictions.

The flight suspension starts tomorrow with the freighter operator explaining the situation in Ukraine and Russia means that its flight route to Europe could be restricted.

“We are currently investigating air routes that do not pass through Russian airspace,” NCA said in a statement.

At the moment, the suspension runs until March 9 and will affect eight flights, operating between Narita and Amsterdam and Milan.

The carrier does however have codeshare agreements with Cargolux, Cargolux Italia and Silkway West.

Yesterday, Air Cargo News reported that forwarders had warned of rising supply chain costs due to extended transit times and reduced capacity between Asia and Europe.
