Romcargo Airlines has applied to operate scheduled and/or chartered flights from the European Union to the US and beyond.

The Romanian all-cargo carrier, which operates a B747-400 Boeing Converted Freighter, was founded in 2021 and received its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Romanian Civil Aviation Authority (AACR).

The application to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) in mid-February for an exemption and foreign air carrier permit under the US-EU open skies agreement did not contain any specific route details.

In December, the Romanian Civil Aviation Authority (RCAA) revoked the airline’s certificate but reinstated it later in the month.

Earlier the same month, Romcargo appointed Air One Aviation as its exclusive Global Sales & Services partner (GSSA) to meet demand for Asia-Europe cargo capacity.

Flight tracking website FlightRadar 24 shows several Romcargo flights in February between Liege in Belgium, Bishkek (FRU) in Kyrgyzstan and Hong Kong.

No further details were available on the carrier’s website, and Air One Aviation has been approached for comment.

The airline acquired its air operators’ certificate in November 2021 to enable it to begin international Boeing 747-400 freighter services.
