Silk Way West signs parts deal with Turkish Technic

Azerbaijani cargo carrier Silk Way West Airlines has signed a component pool agreement with Istanbul-based MRO provider Turkish Technic for its Boeing 777F fleet.
Under the deal the operator of one of the youngest B777F fleets will gain access to spare parts pooling and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services from the Turkish Airlines Group maintenance arm.
Silk Way West, based at Baku’s Heydar Aliyev International Airport, will also benefit from quicker delivery of parts offered by Turkish Technic’s global network for time-critical components.
The carrier operates a fleet of 14 Boeing 777F, 747-8F, and 747-400F aircraft. In 2021, it signed an agreement with Boeing for the purchase of five new 777 freighters, followed by a further agreement in November 2022 for two B777-8Fs, along another for two A350 freighters from Airbus in June 2022.
Its annual cargo turnover exceeds 500,000 tonnes and it serves 40 destinations in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Americas.
President of Silk Way West Airlines, Wolfgang Meier, said the deal would: “enhance our operational capabilities and uphold our commitment to excellence in air cargo transportation. This collaboration reflects our dedication to providing reliable and efficient services to our customers worldwide”.
Turkish Technic chief executive, Mikail Akbulut, added: “With decades of experience in component maintenance and large inventory of components, we are proud to be a leading solution centre for Boeing 777 component pooling. We are excited to work closely with the operator to ensure the highest level of safety and reliability for their Boeing 777F fleet.”
Turkish Technic provides MRO, engineering, modification, and reconfiguration services at five locations. It maintains a workforce of 10.500 staff at Istanbul Ataturk, Sabiha Gokcen and Istanbul airports.
