Cargo airline Hong Kong Air Cargo has launched a new intercontinental e-commerce route from Hong Kong International Airport to London Stansted Airport.
The first flight, RH364, took place on February 4. An Airbus A330-200 freighter aircraft will be used on the route, said Hong Kong Air Cargo in a press release.
The new e-commerce route to London Stansted has been launched as part of Hong Kong Air Cargo’s plans to tap into the demand for online shopping and cross-border trade between China and Europe.
The route is expected to boost the economic cooperation between Hong Kong, China, and Europe, as Hong Kong serves as a global hub for air cargo logistics and a gateway for goods entering and exiting the mainland.
Captain Clifford Hung, president and chief operations officer of Hong Kong Air Cargo, said: “We are delighted to launch our new e-commerce route to London Stansted, a key milestone for our international expansion plan 2024.
“This route will provide our customers with more choices and flexibility for their air cargo logistics needs and create more value and opportunities for our stakeholders and partners.”
Hong Kong Air Cargo was established in 2017 and has a fleet of six all-cargo aircraft, including five A330-200Fs and one wet-leased A330-300P2F.
The airline’s network of routes covers Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. It offers various charter and scheduled flights to destinations such as Almaty, Bangkok, Chennai, Delhi, Dubai, Hanoi, Istanbul, Manila, Milan, Osaka, Shanghai, Singapore, Taipei and London.
In October, Hong Kong Air Cargo expanded into Europe for the first time with a new flight operating to Italy targeting e-commerce volumes.
