IAG Cargo adds capacity to Tel Aviv

IAG CARGO has replaced its narrowbody A321 with widebody B777 aircraft on seven of the 14 weekly flights from London to Tel Aviv, to capitalise on the city’s growing pharmaceuticals market.
The B777, which has been operating on the route since the end of March, can carry 18 tonnes on the Heathrow-Tel Aviv route and 16 tonnes on the return leg. As a result, IAG Cargo has increased cargo capacity by 1000 per cent, a statement says.
Israel is a major manufacturing hub for pharmaceutical products and is seen as an important centre for the production of biopharma, due to low start-up costs and a large population of angel investors, research shows.
Alan Dorling, global head of pharmaceuticals and life sciences at IAG Cargo, comments: “Our industry-leading Constant Climate product is perfect for keeping pharmaceuticals at the optimum temperature, which is essential for the biotech and pharmaceutical market.
Combined with the additional capacity we have just brought onto the route, we can offer Israeli pharma businesses reliable, specialist lift options that can connect them to their markets around the world via our Heathrow hub.”
