IAG Cargo chief joins the online revolution at Freightos

IAG Cargo director of sales, marketing and products Camilo Garcia has left the carrier to join online company Freightos Group, as global vice president of business development.

He will head up airline relationships at WebCargo by Freightos, the business unit for digitizing logistics service providers.

Commenting on the “exciting yet difficult decision to join the start-up world” he said: “I feel the best way to truly digitise global freight is for logistics industry experts to crossover into the technology world. Knowledge transfer is critical.”

The siloed approach by the cargo and technology worlds had had only “limited wins” so far, he added.

He said: “I’m excited to contribute my industry expertise to bridge this knowledge gap, helping tech companies like Freightos continue to support cargo innovation, but doing so increasingly as an industry insider, not an external force.”

But Garcia predicted: “Something has changed in air cargo and the tipping point seems near.”
