IAG Cargo has carried out a special delivery on behalf of a customer working in India who was unable to spend Diwali with his London-based family, due to work commitments and Covid-19 restrictions.
The carrier enabled Ashish Asaf, who works at logistics firm S.A Group — an IAG cargo customer — to transport homemade Diwali treats to his family in London on a Boeing 787 flight from Deli.
Ankush Chawla, area commercial manager for South Asia at IAG Cargo, said: “When we heard that Mr Asaf, was unable to be with his family during Diwali, we were pleased to be able to make a special delivery via one of our flights to London from Delhi, just in time for Diwali.”
Asaf said: “Logistics service providers like S.A Group see volumes increase prior to Diwali. It’s a busy time and with the latest Covid-19 restrictions, I’ve not been able to travel to London. The kind gesture of IAG Cargo to deliver a personal package from me to my children was a very kind act indeed and very much appreciated.”
IAG Cargo’s gesture comes as “millions” of people around the globe prepare for the Diwali by transporting goods such as sweets and food treats, lanterns, lamps and artefacts around the world.
The carrier, which operates regular services out of India and now also operates cargo-only and charter flights to increase its capacity offering, said it supports its Asia-Pacific customers each year by enabling them to move traditional Diwali goods around the world.
Chawla added: “Moving precious cargo around the world is what IAG Cargo does every day.
“To everyone celebrating, we extend our very best wishes for a happy holiday season, on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, the festival of lights. May this festival bring happiness, good health and prosperity in everyone’s lives.”
