IAG Cargo is hoping to capitalise on the addition of a new service from Barcelona to the US from sister airline LEVEL.

On March 31 LEVEL will add a new three-times-per-week service from Barcelona to Miami.

Meanwhile, services between Barcelona and San Fransisco will restart on the same date with four flights per week.

An additional flight will be added to the Miami route between June and September for the busy summer passenger peak.

The cargo business said that Miami is the “world’s largest gateway” to Latin America and the Caribbean.

“It is renowned as a hub for the distribution of perishable products, hi-tech commodities, telecommunications equipment, textiles, pharmaceuticals and industrial machinery,” IAG Cargo said.

The introduction of the service is being made possible by the addition of a sixth aircraft to LEVEL’s fleet.

Miami will be IAG Cargo’s fifth direct connection to the US from Barcelona, which already encompasses Boston, Los Angeles, New York’s JFK and San Francisco.

Camilo Garcia Cervera, chief sales and marketing officer at IAG Cargo, said: “The transatlantic corridor is an important part of our network and supports so many of our customers. Miami is a thriving logistics hub, strategic for airfreight. With our already well-established network connecting major cities in the US, this new route will enhance our connectivity even more.”
