The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has launched an Introduction to Air Cargo Economics online course that aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the sector.

The course costs $200 and breaks down air cargo economics into 18 focused topics, with each topic taking just 5-6 minutes to complete.

It covers the importance of air cargo services; the economic aspects of air cargo services; types and features of air cargo services; and economic regulatory frameworks governing air cargo.

“This course caters to professionals working in related fields of air cargo economics within government and civil aviation authorities, air service negotiators, and airline and airport officers requiring an understanding of air cargo in aviation,” ICAO explained.

After completing the course, there is a final exam consisting of 20 multiple-choice questions. To pass the course, participants require a grade of 80% and are allowed three attempts.

Upon successful completion of the exam, those that have passed will receive ICAO’s e-Certificate.

ICAO said that upon completion of the course, the participants will be able to: Recognise key terms and concepts in air cargo services; list the benefits of air cargo services to global socio-economic development; distinguish between the economic and operational aspects of air cargo; explain the impact of technological advances on air cargo services; classify the types and features of air cargo services and identify the economic regulatory frameworks governing air cargo.
