Latam to transport Covid-19 vaccines domestically for free

Latam Cargo has said it will provide free capacity, dedicated to transporting transport Covid-19 vaccines, to domestic destinations in its network.
Through its Solidarity Plane programme, the carrier will transport Covid-19 vaccines when they become available, to destinations in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.
IATA CEIV Pharma-certified Latam Cargo added that since August, it has been planning the logistical aspects of vaccine transportation, taking into to consideration the the infrastructure and facilities at of each of the airports in its domestic network.
The carrier’s pharma network includes 30 hubs around the globe — 13 of which are located in Europe, five in North America and the rest are in South America. It is also working to qualify four stations in China and two more in Europe.
Roberto Alvo, Latam Airlines Group chief executive, explained: “During this entire global health crisis, we have not spared efforts to collaborate with the communities of the countries where we serve through our Solidarity Plane program.
“We are excited to announce that Latam’s domestic operations will be available to support the distribution totally for free, of vaccines according to what the authorities of Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru may determine.”
Last week, Azul said that it would offer free transportation of the vaccine within Brazil.
Earlier this month, Latam Group has started operating flights to Qatar for the first time to cater to Chile’s fruit harvest season.
The carrier recently appointed Otávio Meneguette as vice president of cargo, Brazil. He is responsible for leading the company’s air cargo business strategy in the Brazilian market.
The company also recently appointed Marty St. George to be its Chile chief commercial officer.
