Militzer & Münch bags myAirCargo contract from Lufthansa

Swiss forwarder Militzer & Münch has been appointed the exclusive partner in Europe for myAirCargo, Lufthansa Cargo’s international door to door service for its passengers who buy goods abroad that are too heavy or large for carry-on luggage.
Currently, myAirCargo is available only on routes connecting Europe and the US, and is custom-tailored for oversized items and objects weighing over 50kg.
From a Frankfurt base, Militzer & Münch will serve the entire European market, organising customs clearance and value added services. Militzer & Münch’s US partner, Pilot Freight Services, will perform handling on the other side of the Atlantic.
“We are glad that now also our private customers can directly profit from our long years of experience in air freight. The cooperation with competent logistics partners makes it possible,” says Dr Pilar Fresnillo, director offer innovation at Lufthansa Cargo.
Klaus Jäger, managing director global air & sea at Militzer & Münch, said: “We are glad we have convinced Lufthansa Cargo with our know-how to cooperate with us in Europe, in import a well as in export.”
For exports, the forwarder is responsible for the collection of the goods, drawing up the accompanying documents and getting the shipment ready for transport, including weighing, measuring, customs clearance, and security check.
For imports, Militzer & Münch performs the customs clearance and on-carriage.
After entering the weight and measurements of the consignment, as well as the route, the customer gets real-time price information. The online booking confirms the order and, in cooperation with the local transport partners, Lufthansa Cargo organizes the entire supply chain from collection to delivery of the freight.
“Booking airfreight online, fast, direct, and easy – we are the only ones to offer that,” added Fresnillo.
