More Airbuses than ever
24 / 02 / 2015
Airbus hit a new record of 629 aircraft deliveries for 89 customers, including eight new ones. The Toulouse-based plane-maker said that the new planes included 490 A320 family aircraft, 108 A330s, 30 A380s and its first A350 XWB, to Qatar Airways.
Aircraft deliveries in 2014 beat the previous record set in 2013 and were up for the 13th year in a row.
Airbus says it now has over half the market for aircraft above 100 seats, boosted by the A330neo’s 120 firm endorsements within six months of its launch and US carrier Delta’s decision to select the A330neo for its transatlantic services and the A350 for its transpacific routes.
Airbus also delivered 30 A380s including to Asiana, Qatar Airways and Etihad, all new operators of the aircraft.
President and chief executive Fabrice Brégier said Airbus had “made strong progress towards a faster, simpler and more agile company, while our strategy of incremental innovation is helping to consolidate our market-leading position in all categories.”
