Saudia Cargo ready to roll out e-AWBs across network

SAUDI Airlines Cargo is making rapid progress on the implementation of electronic airwaybills [e-AWBs) and plans to roll the project out across its global network.
The big Middle East airline has made “significant progress” to simplifying the airfreight supply chain process, says Nabil Khojah, chief executive of Saudia Cargo.
“The e-AWB is an invaluable tool which will help us to improve the quality of our services while reducing processing costs,” he adds.
“We have already begun implementing the procedure at selected international gateways and intend to roll this out across our global network over the coming months.”
Introduction of the e-AWB has already gained support from a number of industries such as the local Customs and major freight forwarders who have expressed their desire to be part of Saudia Cargo’s pilot project from stations inside Saudi Arabia.
Ground handling service providers worldwide have also expressed their willingness and support.
“The arrival of the e-AWB will bring many benefits, such as reduced costs in terms of printing multipage [paper] AWBs, improved quality of service through the elimination of errors such as missing documents, greater visibility in terms of track and trace and better overall customer satisfaction,” the carrier adds.
