Boeing has revealed that seven 777 freighters were ordered last month to give the aircraft manufacturer a total of 35 777F orders this year.

The US-based company recorded the orders in its Airplane Gross Orders report, although like last month, when 11 777Fs were ordered, all seven of the aircraft have been purchased by an unidentified customer(s).

Boeing also delivered one 767-300F to FedEx in October.

In February, there was one 777F order, followed by five in June and five in July all from unidentified customer(s), although Air Cargo News understands four of the orders were made by National Airlines.

BCA Customer Finance has also ordered two of the model, while Turkish Airlines ordered four. Both orders were made in June.

This year’s tally of 35 models is a turnaround from last year when 777F orders amounted to 10.

Orders are in fact on par with the pandemic boom years for air cargo. There were 35 777F orders in 2022, while in 2021 there were 42. In 2020 there were 13 and in 2019 there were 17.

From 2028, companies will no longer be able to order production 777Fs due to stricter emissions regulations.

Deliveries of the 777F have also been slow to get going this year, but 11 777F have been delivered in total during 2024 so far. There are 78 unfilled 777F orders.

The aircraft manufacturer’s World Air Cargo Forecast (WACF), released yesterday, predicted the global air cargo fleet will rise to 3,900 freighters by 2043, an approximate 66% increase from 2,340 cargo aircraft in 2023.
