Swiss WorldCargo to offer Toronto flights

Swiss WorldCargo will benefit from an expanded North American offering following the addition of a new route from Zurich to Toronto.

The service was launched today and will be operated by Swiss Airlines five times a week using an Airbus A330-300.

The addition is part of the expansion of the carrier’s long-haul network.

“This expansion not only adds to the airfreight division’s current solid network in North America, which includes Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Montreal, New York, Newark, and San Francisco, but also plays a crucial role in serving diverse industries in the Ontario region, such as manufacturing, technology, automotive, and notably, pharmaceutical and healthcare,” Swiss WorldCargo said in a press release.

Lorenzo Stoll, head of cargo at Swiss, added: “Toronto has emerged as a critical hub in technology, automotive, and healthcare.

“By linking this city with our extensive network, we aim to nurture strong economic ties with the Ontario region, by providing our customers in the area with seamless logistics solutions for the transport of their care-intensive and temperature-sensitive cargo.”

The new flight to Toronto is the second long-haul destination the carrier has added this week.

On May 7, Swiss added an Airbus A340 flight to Seoul three times per week that targeted high-tech cargo volumes.

Swiss WorldCargo said the type of products being transported include consumer electronics like smartphones and laptops to sophisticated IT equipment and other components.

The cargo business added that although electronics will play a significant role, it also anticipates a range of goods will be transported, including general cargo and high value.
