Bengaluru (Bangalore) International Airport has just opened its 11-acre cargo village. The village will house 120 freight forwarders and 80 custom house agents as of 1st January 2009.

Albert Brunner, CEO of Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) said: “Cargo development is a key focus of BIAL's core business strategy. With the inauguration of the Cargo village we will be able to further enhance existing cargo operations for Bangalore. The facility will generate employment opportunities and create a better working environment for its occupants.”

The airport opened for business in May 2008.
