Drewry: east-west airfreight rates on the up

Drewry’s east-west airfreight price index for September 2018 stood at 95.4, an increase compared to August (when it reached 87.6) as well as a year-on-year climb (from 88.5).
The average rate expressed in US dollars/kg rose by 9% from the previous month, gaining 24 cents to reach $2.81 per kg in September.
Based on anecdotal reports and the seasonal trend, the freight rate market intelligence provider expects rates to increase in October.
