Drewry reports ongoing drop in airfreight rates

The latest Drewry East-West Airfreight Price Index has reported a fall in airfreight rates in August, compared with July and August 2018.

Drewry Sea & Air Shipper Insight noted: “Airfreight rates fell from $2.56 to $2.46 in August from July, and a drop of 4% from August 2018.”

But, more positively, it added: “According to historical trend of the past seven years, airfreight rates have risen between August and September, and if the pattern continues rates will increase in September 2019.”

Sea & Air Shipper Insight provides information and analysis for the ocean and airfreight markets, including airfreight rate benchmarks on 57 trade lanes.
